One of the nation's
first schools of social work, USC has always been a trailblazer. And
this time in our history is no exception. Still one of the 10 best
social work graduate programs in the nation, USC is heralded by

Pre-Career Practicum in Psychology (Summer)

New
York-Presbyterian Hospital is internationally recognized for its
outstanding comprehensive services. The program is open to
undergraduates and graduate college students interested in careers
in social work, psychiatry, medicine, recreational therapy, nursing,
research, psychology, and hospital administration. Internships are
also available working with our populations in Art Therapy, and
Physical Education.
The practicum, now in its 40th year allows students the opportunity
to volunteer on one of our 11 patient units under the supervision of
the nursing staff. Students will assist the staff with the daily
activities on the unit which include but are not limited to room
checks, escort, sitting in on small group activities and/or groups,
interacting with the patient population on a one to one and in small
group settings and attending case conferences.
Dates/Hours:
An Eight-week program, 35 hours per week, runs from Monday June 2 to
Friday July 25.
Stipend:
None and there are no accommodations for housing or transportation.
Deadline:
May 1 but applications are reviewed as they are received.
