Career Tips -
Winter Break Jobs & More
|
|
Need or Want to Work during Winter Break?
This year's winter break at Pitzer College is approximately 4 weeks.
Have you ever thought of using that time to earn money or
acquire new job skills? According to Career Opportunities News
here are some tips for those seeking such experiences.
1. Contact past employers from high school or previous
summer jobs to let them know you are available.
2. Consider a very short internship experience in a
field you would like to work in.
3. Ask family and friends, your best leads, for jobs.
4. When contacting an employer have some thoughts down on paper on
why you would be a good employee for them. Instead of what
they can provide for you.
5. Talk with a manager of a local chain store (Target,
Best Buy, Macys, Borders) that you would like to work at.
Chances are those chain stores are in your neighborhood back home.
You could interview locally for a job back at home.
6. Consider working in retail or winter sports. The
greatest help is needed in December and January for these types of
opportunities.
