Book
Chat - Legal Specialties |

Abrams, Lisa.
The Official Guide to Legal Specialties: An
Insider’s Guide to Every Major Practice Area.
Chicago: BarBri
Group, 2000.
Interested in a career in law? Then this may be the book for you.
Whether you know you want a law degree or are just thinking about
one, this book helps you discover the various areas of law
available to you so that you can find the one that best fits you!
Though there were many books written on how to look for a
legal job, there were none that addressed legal career options.
With the guidance of legal school career service professionals
this book project was begun. Surveys were distributed to legal
practioneers throughout the United States in an effort to assemble
information on legal options in the field in a concise manual. Each
of the 30 chapters in this book addresses a major legal specialty. The chapters begin with a brief overview of each
specialty area
then attorneys in the field answer the following questions:
·
Where do attorneys in your practice specialty work?
·
Who are your clients and what types of cases or issues do you work
on?
·
What daily activities are involved in your practice?
·
What do you find rewarding about your field of practice?
·
How do people generally enter the field in which you practice?
·
What path did you take to practice in this specialty area?
·
What classes and law school experiences do you recommend to
students?
This is a great resource for those thinking about the field of law. You can now approach your search by picking up this book and
selecting those chapters that deal with areas of law that interest
you. The process of discovering the world of legal possibilities is
now less intimidating than ever before thanks to this guide!
