Winter 2008 - John R. Rodman Arboretum Reclamation Project
Support the Annual Fund today!
The John R, Rodman Arboretum Reclamation project engages the Pitzer College community to integrate our living and learning environments, supporting the College’s mission to emphasize intercultural understanding and environmental sensitivity.
This project focuses on achieving Pitzer College’s commitment to a more sustainable campus. It was initiated by students last year, and is being implemented by students in the Eco-Logical Landscaping course taught by Professor Paul Faulstich. The lawn, with its high water demands, is being replaced by drought tolerant plantings arranged to showcase California’s native habitats and plant communities. Six “Plant-Community” Gardens, linked with meandering paths, will be featured representing desert, sage scrub, chaparral, riparian, grassland, and oak woodland environments. Integrated seating areas and classroom break out spaces will provide opportunities to take typically indoor activities out into the landscape.
We understand that the current economic crisis impacts all of us. Thoughtful and strategic contributions to organizations such as Pitzer College are increasingly important. We hope that you will consider the vital role that Pitzer plays in preparing graduates to become tomorrow's leaders. Helping students who need financial assistance now helps create a better world in the future. We ask that you consider a donation to the Annual Fund at Pitzer College as an investment to support the mission of the College and as a positive response to our future leaders, our students.
