Fall 2008 - President's Note

Laura Skandera Trombley

President Laura Skandera Trombley

The greatest pleasure I have as President of Pitzer College is the ability to say yes.

Yes to students requesting student/faculty research opportunities at Pitzer and abroad. Yes to students requesting travel to New Orleans to volunteer after Hurricane Katrina. Yes to students requesting greater diversity programming both in and out of the classroom. Yes to students requesting support for sustainable gardens throughout campus. And, most importantly, yes to students requesting financial aid, resulting in 24 percent less cumulative average debt than just four years ago. The reason I am able to say yes to our students is because of contributions to our Annual Fund where every dollar raised goes to support the transformational education students receive at Pitzer College. I am proud our graduating seniors, faculty and staff have all participated with me in contributing regularly to the Annual Fund. Please join us in our efforts to further enrich the student experience by helping us meet our Annual Fund goals for 2008–2009. With our shared advocacy and support, together we will continue, in the words of Pitzer’s Founding President John Atherton, “our mandate to change the universe.”

Provida Futuri,
Laura Skandera Trombley
President
