(Dec. 11, 2002) – Pitzer College has hired Anne Donovan Moran as its new Vice President for College Advancement, and Susan C. Moran and Andrews will arrive at Pitzer in January. Moran, an accomplished fundraiser and higher-education visionary with great success in developing and establishing innovative programs, has served as the Southwest Regional Director for Major Gifts at CARE in Los Angeles for the past four years. In addition to raising major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations, Moran also led a national effort to integrate CARE's staff across fundraising and marketing. Prior to working at CARE, Anne was President and CEO of Immaculate Heart College Center where, among many achievements, she re-envisioned the institution by integrating M.A. degrees in Global Studies and Feminist Spirituality, and programs and resources in international and intercultural studies. She also significantly expanded grant-funded activities. Anne has worked for a number of top schools such as the University of Southern California, Syracuse University, Georgetown University and Iona College, and was the Founding Executive Director & COO of University of Cape Town Fund Inc., which continues as one of the largest U.S. foundations created to support educational initiatives in South Africa. Moran, who holds a B.S.F.S. (Bachelor of Science, Foreign Service) from Georgetown University, will be responsible for all Advancement activities at Pitzer College, including coordinating fundraising, alumni activities and the ongoing $40 million comprehensive Campaign for Pitzer College. Andrews, who has extensive administrative experience in marketing in higher education and substantial supervisory experience within the liberal arts environment, has served as Associate Vice President for Marketing and Public Relations at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., for the past two years. While at Gustavus Adolphus, she developed and implemented the college's first-ever marketing campaign. Prior to working at Gustavus Adolphus, Andrews was Northwestern University's Director of Communications for the Division of Information Technology, where she enhanced that college's image as one of the top-ranked institutions for the effective use of technology. Andrews holds an M.S. in Technical Communication and Information Design from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and a B.S. in English from Western Illinois University. She will be responsible for Pitzer's marketing, public relations and special college-wide events. She also will be responsible for developing integrated marketing campaigns in keeping with the mission of the college and will work with all departments and groups that market the college or individual programs. Pitzer also is preparing for the inauguration of its fifth president, Laura Skandera Trombley, who arrived at the college in July. The weeklong inaugural celebration from Feb. 10-15, 2003, will coincide with the beginning of the college's yearlong 40th anniversary celebration. ##### Founded in 1963, Pitzer College is a nationally ranked undergraduate college of the liberal arts and sciences.
