Pitzer College One of Kaplan's "320 Most Interesting"

Claremont, Calif. (July 1, 2002) – Pitzer College has been included in Kaplan 
Publishing's "The Unofficial, Unbiased Insider's Guide to the 320 Most Interesting 
Colleges." (Kaplan, Inc./Simon&Schuster, July 2002, ISBN: 074323054X)
According to Kaplan, the new guide offers "the practical advice families crave." 
The guide's authors, college admissions experts Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili, 
studied the 2001-02 college admissions cycle and share their opinions about trends on 
campuses. Anderson says Pitzer "is a good choice for individuals looking for an 
interdisciplinary, intercultural education."
The guide provides exclusive, previously unavailable information, including results 
of Kaplan's national guidance counselor survey. The guide also features candid student 
observations about academics and social life, as one Pitzer senior points out: "This is a 
place for alternative thinkers – if not when they first arrive here, then definitely by the 
time they leave."
The guide states that Pitzer "offers the most creative curriculum of all the 
Claremont Colleges" but also makes the point that "for those who want more traditional 
courses, there's open cross-registration with the sister schools down the street, not to 
mention the joint social and athletic resources."
The Kaplan guide -- which is free from paid advertising from the profiled colleges 
and never has accepted money from the schools in its publications -- also provides 
campus statistics and information, including application deadlines.
