Flexcars Come to the Claremont Colleges

(October 5, 2007) - The best new thing on campus… is an easier way to get off campus!

The Claremont Colleges are proud to introduce Flexcar: low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles you can rent by the hour or day. Four of these cars – 3 hybrids and a minivan are now located in the CUC Tranquada parking lot (just north of Pomona’s Lincoln Building and south of the Student Health Services Center), and are available for use by all qualified employees and students of the Claremont Colleges, 18 years and older. Departments and programs may also create accounts for school-related travel.

If you bike, bus or walk to campus, you may sometimes wish you had access to a car during the day. The program is very affordable and you can reduce congestion, cut down on greenhouse gas emissions, and help save the environment.

Rates for the Flexcars are $7/hour (or $48/day), and include gas, insurance, maintenance and 24-hour assistance. The first year’s membership, a $35 value, is free to qualified employees and students of The Claremont Colleges if you join by Jan. 5, 2008.
