Register and Vote
Dear Community,
Next year's elections seem a long way off, but they're on their way. And if you are not registered, you won't be able to vote.
If you will be 18 on or before Election Day, a U. S. citizen, and have a California residence (this includes students attending school and living on campus), you are eligible to vote in any California election. If you have moved since the last election, even within California, you need to re-register.
Registration forms for California are available in a manila envelope tacked to the bulletin board outside Fletcher 220. They are also available at all post offices, Dept. of Motor Vehicles offices, city halls, and public libraries.
Although California does not allow you to register on-line, you can download a registration form from the web, in PDF format, from this page:
http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm
Or, you can fill out a form on-line, which they'll then mail to you to sign and mail back in, by going to http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/votereg1.html
If you're registered in another state, that's fine; make sure you vote in that state's elections. To find out about your state's elections and its rules for registering, go to http://www.fvap.gov/links/statelinks.html
and click on the name of your state.
For California voter information in Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, Tagalog, Korean, and Vietnamese, go to http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_multi.htm
This site also lets you download a Spanish voter registration form (in PDF format), and absentee ballot applications in all these languages.
Bottom line: if you want to register in time for the next election, don't wait for the deadline (fifteen days before the election in California, various deadlines in other states). Get a registration form today, fill it out, and mail it in.
Make your voice heard! Register and vote.
