Message to the Pitzer Community

March 17, 2004
President Laura Skandera Trombley

Dear Pitzer Community,

The Claremont Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation have just issued a press release regarding the investigation into the alleged hate crime on March 9, 2004 at Claremont McKenna College.

The press release states: "two eye witnesses came forward who positively identified the victim as vandalizing her own vehicle. Additionally, interviews with the alleged victim revealed inconsistencies in her statements regarding the incident."

Based on this information as well as other information revealed during the investigation, the Claremont Police Department will present its findings to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for review.

We understand from Claremont McKenna College that this information does not alter Kerri Dunn's position as a faculty member at Claremont McKenna College, and we join CMC in urging all members of the community to respect her Constitutional rights to due process.

Sincerely,

Laura Skandera Trombley
President
