Poverties Revisited: A Conversation With Majid Rahnema

Pitzer Professor Majid Rahnema, a frequent and honored visiting professor of International and Intercultural Studies at the College, will speak at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the McConnell Living Room. Professor Rahnema has spent the last 20 years focusing on the problem of global poverty. His most recent book, Quand La Misère Chasse La Pauvreté, examines the redefinition of “poverty” in the context of economic development. Professor Rahnema formerly served as the Minister of Higher Education and Science in Iran, was a member of the Executive Council of UNESCO, and served as the United Nations representative in Mali and Rwanda.
