Annual California Great Shakeout Drill

Dear Pitzer Community,

On Thursday, October 21 at 10:21 am, the Pitzer campus will participate in the Annual California Great Shakeout Drill.

The purpose of the Great Shakeout Drill is to practice how to protect ourselves during an earthquake. During the drill, Pitzer will test its mass notification system, its emergency radio system and the various systems in its Emergency Operations Center.

At 10:21 am on October 21, you will receive a text and email via Pitzer’s emergency communication system indicating that the drill has begun. Campus fire alarms will also sound briefly.

As soon as you receive the message, please

DROP to the ground.
Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table.
HOLD ON to it until you are notified that the drill has ended.

When the drill has ended, you will be notified via text and email. The campus fire alarm will also sound briefly to indicate the end of the drill.

During the spring 2011 semester, Pitzer College will participate in an expanded emergency drill—we will update the community on these plans in December 2010.

A las 10:21 am el 21 de octubre, el campus de Pitzer participará en el Gran Shakeout Anual de California.

El propósito del Gran Shakeout es para practicar como protegernos durante un terremoto.  Durante el simulacro, Pitzer probará su sistema de notificación, su sistema de radio de emergencia y varios sistemas en su Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia.

A las 10:21 am el 21 de octubre, recibirá un texto y correo electrónico a través del sistema de comunicación de emergencia de Pitzer indicando que el simulacro a comenzado.  Las alarmas de fuego del campus sonarán brevemente.

Al solo que reciba el mensaje u oiga la alarma de fuego, por favor:
AGÁCHESE al suelo.
CÚBRASE debajo de un escritorio o mesa resistente.
AGÁRRESE del mueble hasta que sea notificado que a terminado el simulacro.
