Pitzer Participates in the Second Annual California Great Shakeout Drill

On Thursday, October 15 at 10:15 am, the Pitzer campus will participate in the Second Annual California Great Shakeout Drill.

The purpose of the Great Shakeout Drill is to practice how to protect ourselves during an earthquake.

At 10:15am on October 15, you will receive a text, email and/or phone call via our instant mass communication system indicating that the drill has begun. Campus fire alarms will also sound briefly.

As soon as you receive the message, please

DROP to the ground.
Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table.
HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops.

When the drill has ended, you will be notified via text, email and/or phone. Please note — you will not be asked to evacuate your office, classroom, building, etc.

For expanded instructions on what to do during an earthquake and on the Great Shakeout Drill, please visit www.shakeout.org. If you have questions about Pitzer's participation, please contact Kira Poplowski at kira_poplowski@pitzer.edu.

Thank you for helping to make the Pitzer campus as safe as possible.

Best,

Laura Skandera Trombley
