The information below is meant to give you a quick picture of the numbers from last year's admission cycle. Keep in mind that the statistics below do not give you the total “flavor” of the holistic process we use when the entering class is assembled.

Early Decision

The number of admitted students represents 24 percent of the entering class. Pitzer is committed to admitting no more than 30 percent of the entering class through the ED process, and to use the same financial aid policies for awarding aid to both Early and Regular Decision applicants.

The Total Picture

Although the number of applications (3,743) dropped by 1.8 percent from the previous year, application numbers have grown by 15 percent over the last 6 years (from 3,251 in 2005 to 3,743 in 2011).

A total of 272 students enrolled for the fall of 2011. About 42 percent of the entering class comes from California and the remaining 58 percent represents twenty-eight different states and eight foreign countries. Outside of California, New York, Illinois, Washington State, Massachusetts and Oregon are the top five states sending students to Pitzer. Students of color represent 28 percent of the class.

The class of 2015 bring with them the personal qualities that have made Pitzer's student body unique through the years: a deep commitment to making the world a better place, enthusiasm for understanding other cultures, eagerness to take an active role in designing and shaping their education and vitality for serious intellectual work.

Academic Achievement

Average High School GPA: 3.88

Standardized tests are optional in the admission process at Pitzer College. For those students who chose to submit them, the average SAT Verbal was 652 and the average SAT Math was 641.

Financial Aid

Forty-two percent of our current student body receive financial aid in the form of grants, loans and work study.
