Berta (Betty) Avila ’08, Senior Interviewer
Berta Avila, who prefers to be called Betty, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and attended Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet. She is a double major in Spanish and English and World Literature. In the fall of her junior year she studied abroad in Parma, Italy and would love to return on a postgraduate fellowship. She has worked at the Admission Office for three years as a Diversity Intern and tour guide. In addition to her on-campus job, Betty is a member of the Latino Student Union, Chiapas Support Committee, and will be this year's Communications Secretary for Student Senate. She has also participated in the Chicano/Latino Student Affairs Sponsor Program to mentor incoming first-year students. Betty is a life-long fan of the Dodgers and when she's not studying or working at Admissions she enjoys spending time with friends, family and going to concerts on a regular basis.

Tara Beatty ’08, Senior Interviewer
Tara was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She is an Anthropology major with a significant interest in Indigenous Brazilian populations. During her junior year she studied abroad in Roraima, Brazil and assisted a professor with her research on the Macuxi Indians. She has been a member of PAct (Pitzer Activities) since her freshman year, putting on campus-wide events. Tara is also minoring in Theater, which she has always had a passion for. In her free time, Tara loves reading, yoga, traveling, country music and watching plays. |

Kevin Garvey ’08, Senior Interviewer
Kevin grew up in San Carlos, California and attended Carlmont High School. He is working on a combined major of Political and Media Studies. In his sophomore year Kevin worked as a Residential Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs and in his junior year he sat on the Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) as the Junior Representative for Student Senate. He currently sits on the Appointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (APT) as the Senior Representative for Student Senate. Kevin enjoys biking, music, film and writing.

Dania Gottschalk ’08, Senior Interviewer
Dania grew up in Southern California and Cincinnati, Ohio. She is just returning from a semester abroad at Haifa University in Israel. Dania is a Psi Chi inducted Psychology major with the goal of going on to graduate school for Clinical Psychology. During her time at Pitzer she has served as a mentor to the incoming freshman, fundraised for the college through Pitzer’s Phonathon, and been actively involved in various Jewish student organizations of the 5 Colleges. Other highlights of Dania's academic experience include acting as a student representative to the Psychology faculty's fieldgroup, and serving as a research assistant to various Psychology professors. In her free time Dania enjoys being with her family and friends, going to concerts, and traveling. |

Danny Irving ’08, Senior Interviewer
Danny was born and raised in San Diego, CA where he attended Francis W. Parker High School. He is a double major in Economics and Organizational Studies. Last year Danny ran the Movies on the Mounds event and worked as a tour guide in the Office of Admission. Danny also spent this last summer on Pitzer's Summer Study in Japan program where he lived with a host family outside of Osaka. In his free time Danny enjoys cooking, reading, going to the beach, watching movies and spending time with his family and friends. |

Leah Newman ’08, Senior Interviewer
Leah grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts and attended Northampton High School. She is a double major in Economics and International and Intercultural Studies. She spent the spring semester of her sophomore year attending the University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban, South Africa as well as spending the fall semester of her junior year as a member of the Pitzer in Botswana program. On campus, Leah is part of the Pitzer Outdoors Activities club and a member of the Yearbook staff. She enjoys camping, concerts and watching the Red Sox. |

Edward Pickett III ’08, Senior Interviewer
Edward grew up in Berkeley, California and attended Berkeley High School. He is a double major in Media Studies and Studio Art with an emphasis in Digital Media. Edward is a co-captain on the Pomona-Pitzer Baseball and Football teams. He has worked in the admissions office for three years giving campus tours and most recently as an intern for the Pitzer Diversity Program. Alongside Berta, he aids in planning a program for prospective students to visit the Pitzer campus. After graduation Edward plans to spend a year abroad coaching and traveling. His ultimate goal is to pursue a master’s in Higher Education Administration. |

Adam Rosenzweig ’08, Senior Interviewer
Adam was born in Santa Monica, California, but proudly claims Palo Alto and the San Francisco Bay Area as his home. Adam graduated from Gunn High School and Foothill Middle College in 2004. After spending a fantastic year studying and volunteering in Israel, Adam returned to Foothill College from which he [enthusiastically] transferred to Pitzer in the Fall of 2006. He enjoys playing the guitar and the harmonica and firmly believes that it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. He also enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee with the Claremont Braineaters. Adam is majoring in History and after graduation expects to combine his love for education and youth leadership in a way that allows him to work with students. |

Rachel Rubin ’08, Senior Interviewer
Rachel grew up in Berkeley, California and attended Berkeley High School. She is an Organizational Studies Major and French minor, and spent last spring studying abroad in Toulouse, France. Rachel was a captain of the Pitzer-Pomona Dance Team her freshman and sophomore year, and continues to take dance courses in hip hop and modern. She has worked as a tour guide for the Office of Admission for three years. Rachel enjoys biking, hiking, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. |
