The information below is meant to give you a “snap” picture of the admission cycle for Fall 2008. Keep in mind, however, that the statistics below do not give you the total “flavor” of the holistic process we use when the entering class is assembled.

Early Decision
The number of admitted students represents 22 percent of the entering class. Pitzer’s commitment is to admit no more than 30 percent of the entering class through the ED process, and to use the same financial aid policies for awarding aid to both ED and Regular Action applicants.
The Total Picture
This was another record setting year for Pitzer College. The total number of applications (4,032) grew by 8 percent from the previous year. During the last five years the number of applications has grown by 30 percent (from 3,108 in 2003 to 4,032 in 2008).
A total of 259 students enrolled for the Fall 2008. About 45 percent of the entering class comes from California and the other 55 percent represent twenty-seven states and two foreign countries. Washington State, New York, Oregon, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are the top five states sending students to Pitzer. Students of color represent 31 percent of the class.
These students bring with them the personal qualities that have made the Pitzer student body unique through the years: deep commitment to make the world a better place, enthusiasm for understanding other cultures, eagerness to take an active role in designing their education, and the vitality for serious intellectual work.
Academic Achievement
Average High School GPA: 3.76
Standardized tests are optional in the admission process at Pitzer College. For those students who chose to submit them, the average SAT Verbal was 635 and the average SAT Math was 626.
