This form is provided to assist you in calculating your UNWEIGHTED ACADEMIC GPA. If this GPA is a 3.50 or higher, then you are exempt from submitting standardized test scores. Only academic courses should be counted in the GPA calculator. Listed below are the guidelines for determining academic vs. non-academic courses.
English
– Composition, Literature (World, American, etc.), Creative Writing, Poetry,
Short Story
History/ Social Science –World History, US History, Government,
Economics, Psychology, etc.
Humanities – Philosophy, non-dogmatic Religion courses,
Humanities electives
Languages – Spanish, French, Latin, German, Chinese,
Japanese, Russian, American Sign Language, etc.
Mathematics – Algebra and above
Natural Science – Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental
Studies, Astronomy, etc.
Visual and Performing Arts – Theater, Art, Painting,
Ceramics, Drawing, Film, Mixed Media, Dance, Photography, Music, etc.
Non-academic courses – PE, Health, Yearbook, Peer Counseling, etc.

Directions:
1. Eliminate non-academic courses
2. Total the number of each individual letter grade you received (semester or
trimester grades) in high school to date
3. Multiply the total number of A’s by 4, B’s by 3, etc. to determine
your grade points
4. Divide the TOTAL # OF GRADE POINTS by the TOTAL # OF GRADES to calculate
your ACADEMIC GPA
