About Summer Session at Pitzer

Summer Session at Pitzer is an outstanding opportunity for students to continue and enrich their education in a rigorous academic atmosphere distinct from the traditional school year. Students may choose from a modest slate of undergraduate courses offered across the curriculum during two intensive six-week terms. All courses are taught by Claremont Colleges faculty and established adjuncts.

  • Work closely with a favorite faculty member
  • Continue your research or study of an academic interest
  • Catch up or get ahead on units
  • Fulfill the requirements of a major or educational objective
  • Focus on a difficult course or requirement
  • Explore new interests
  • Enjoy savings on tuition, room and board

Session Dates

Two six-week sessions are offered. Students may enroll in one or both of the sessions.

Session I May 26 - July 3
Session II July 6 - August 14

There will be no class on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day).

For more information, please see the Academic Calendar.

Who May Apply

Summer Session at Pitzer is open to current students of the Claremont Colleges in good standing at their respective colleges, and qualified students in good standing at other four-year colleges and universities.

Admission may be subject to review of the applicant's academic status and potential for success in an intensive academic program.

Registration

If you are a Pitzer student, please complete a Summer Session Registration Form and return it to the Registrar's Office in Scott Hall 101.

If you are not a Pitzer student, please complete a Non-Pitzer Student Summer Registration Packet and return it to the Pitzer College Registrar's Office in Scott Hall 101.

Priority Registration opens Tuesday, January 20 and closes Friday, May 1. Late registrations will be accepted through the first day of classes but will subject to a late registration fee of $150.

Please note: Some courses may fill or may be cancelled if they do not meet minimum enrollments. In such cases you will be given the option of selecting alternative courses.

Credit

All courses are regular, full-credit course offerings of Pitzer College. Students earn one full course credit (4 semester units, 6 quarter units) per course completed. We recommend that non-Pitzer students check with the Registrar at their home institution to confirm policies on transfer of credits.

Students may take no more than two courses per session. Students should also bear in mind that courses will be intensive and will require considerable study time outside of class.

Housing

Students are not required to live on campus. However, if you are in need of summer housing, please complete a housing application. For more information and an application, please see Housing.
