• Comparative Global Studies
MLLC 111: Public Speaking (4 units) Students learn to present speeches and formal presentations, lead and participate in discussions and talk in-depth on a range of topics. The class uses readings, lectures, films and field study in the social sciences to explore themes global and lcoal issues.
MLLC 122: Critical Analysis Through Literature (4 units) Students read and analyze short stories, essays and novels that explore a range of human experiences. The class helps students develop an understanding of the social, political, historical and philosophical thought that informs the literature and develop the language needed to analyze the works.
MLLC 133: First Year Seminar: Written Analysis (4 units) Students learn the most important conventions of American academic writing and write research and reflective essays to demonstrate their mastery of these conventions. The class includes discussions, readings and writing assignments that are focused around a seminar theme.
