Other Programs
(Pitzer Students Only)

Pitzer encourages you to consider the approved Pitzer programs and exchanges as the best means of fitting a study abroad option into your undergraduate career at Pitzer College. The Pitzer programs have been developed with the college’s educational philosophy in mind and to align with the college’s guidelines for graduation. Exchange programs have been arranged with overseas institutions that share the College’s commitment to furthering intercultural understanding and global awareness for their own students and who reciprocate the welcome that international students receive at Pitzer by inviting Pitzer students to fully participate in their campus community abroad. The college expects that most students will find a program to meet their academic needs from among the approved program options.

Students may apply for limited available places on other programs that meet the Pitzer College expectations for cultural and community immersion. Students applying for other programs must indicate why they are unable to accomplish their academic objectives on one of the already approved options as well as demonstrate that the other program incorporates a significant number of Pitzer’s educational objectives in the experience.

A majority of these components can be fulfilled to a significant degree on each of the Pitzer exchanges and programs. Applications for other will be evaluated against how well the program fulfills these criteria as well as your essay on how the program best meets a compelling academic need. Previous approval of a particular program or fulfillment of all the guidelines above does not guarantee approval. There are a limited number of spaces (up to ten per year) that are available for non Pitzer programs and all applications will be reviewed competitively against the total number of non Pitzer program applications. All students applying for a non-Pitzer program must commit to an alternate choice from the approved program list. Students who do not list an alternate program and research it carefully will lose priority to all other applicants if deciding on an alternate program after the application deadline has passed.
