| Eligibility: |
Students must be in good standing at Pitzer College. Preference is given to juniors and first semester seniors but qualified sophomores are eligible if space is available. Students interested in the Russian Studies Program must complete four semesters of Russian or its equivalent prior to participation. |

At least one Baltic, Russian or Northern European area studies course is required before departure. Other general preparation options include: Comparative Politics, Intercultural Communications, Introduction to International/ Intercultural Studies, Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology |

| Course Options: |
Exchange students participate in the Baltic/Latvian Studies Program. It is taught in English and includes a Latvian language course. It covers Latvian literature and anthropology/cultural studies (focusing on Latvia); other topics include history and ecology of Latvia and the Baltic region, as well as possible theater studies. There is also a Russian Studies Program, taught in Russian (with some courses in English) and requiring Russian language proficiency. Both of these programs involve field trips in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Russia. |
| Credit Possible: |
Students must take the equivalent of a full course load at the university to equal four courses at Pitzer. Credit amounts vary for each class so students may be enrolled in anywhere from 4-6 classes. |
| Housing Options: |
Students are housed in a student hostel and receive a stipend for their meals from ISEP. |
| Advising notes: |
ISEP exchanges have an early deadline. Students applying for Fall 2007 participation must submit the full application prior to leaving for winter break. Spring applicants will submit the application at the regular Pitzer deadline in February. Consult a Study Abroad Adviser for details. The chance of placement is limited. |
