Program Title: Pitzer Biotechnology and Healthcare Exchanges

Eligibility: At least one year of college level German language study is recommended. All courses are taught in German, but students can arrange some classes in English. Students must be in good academic standing at Pitzer College. Preference will be given to juniors and first semester seniors but sophomores are eligible if space is available.
Preparation: Previous courses in science and at least one area studies course on Germany or Europe in history, politics, literature, religious studies, or international relations is required. Additional recommended preparation: Language, Culture and Society; Intercultural Communications; Introduction to International/ Intercultural Studies; Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology

Program Dates: Fall Semester: Late September to January – early exams can be arranged
Spring Semester: February to July
Required Courses:

As one of their four courses, all students who participate will take an internet based course that is contributed to by six institutions around developing techniques of chronic wound care is offered each semester. Students must also enroll in a course on German language, literature, culture, politics, or history.

Intensive Language: Students are required to enroll on their own in an intensive German language course prior to the semester. Grant funding is available for this course in 06-07 and 07-08.

Credit Possible: Four courses on exchange will equal four courses at Pitzer.
Housing Options: Students live on campus in suite-like arrangements and prepare their own meals.

Scholarships to Germany for Undergraduates

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers Scholarships to Germany from fall 2008 to summer 2009. Application Deadline: January 31st 2008

Each year the program supports approximately 50-60 US and Canadian undergraduate students. We hope to help these students reach their academic goals while building important and lasting bonds of friendship between our countries and introducing them to the benefits of the German higher education system.

Highly qualified undergraduate students are invited to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany from four to ten months:
