Eligibility Students interested in beginning to intermediate French language study may enroll in an intensive French language program. Students may also take a selection of courses in the social sciences taught in English.  Students interested in advanced French who have completed French 44 may participate as a regular university student and take university courses (One must have a minimum of Sciences Po level 3 in French to take social sciences courses in French. Students must be in good standing at Pitzer College. Preference is given to juniors and first semester seniors but qualified sophomores are eligible if space is available.
Preparation Students must have taken at least one course in French language. At least one content course of preparation is required. Courses in European area studies can meet this requirement. Other general preparation options include: Comparative Politics, Intercultural Communications, Introduction to International/ Intercultural Studies, Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology, or the World Since 1492.

Required Courses Participants are expected to take at least one course while abroad that includes content on French history, politics, literature or culture, and the Pitzer Sakai course Intercultural Learning: Portfolio Writing (half course credit)
Intensive Language Students with less than four semesters of previous French language study will enroll in an intensive French language and culture studies program with French as a foreign language (minimum 10ECTS).  In addition, they will take social science courses taught in English.
Course Options Classes are available in French and English in the following fields of study: Economics, International Relations, Law, History, Political Science and Sociology .
Credit Possible Regular university students must take a full course load of 30 ECTS while at Sciences Po in order to earn four course credits at Pitzer. In addition, all students will earn 0.5 Pitzer course credit for the Sakai course. See above under required courses.
Housing Options Pitzer requires students to live with host families. (The host family program is not overseen by Sciences Po, but rather by a third party provider specializing in host family programs in the city of Paris).
