Matt Herceg '07 Named Watson Fellow
Will Study Film and Football Mythopoeia

Matt Herceg '07Matt Herceg '07 was one of only fifty college seniors nationwide to receive the prestigious Watson Fellowship, which funds a year of travel and independent inquiry. Matt is Pitzer’s 26th Watson Fellow. His project’s title is "Film and football Mythopoeia: Capturing/Creating the Beautiful Game."

Herceg, a native of California, was a Media Studies major who plans on attending graduate school in journalism/film with long-term plans of being an independent media maker or an alternative media theatre owner.

Herceg will complete his Watson in Denmark, Brazil, Argentina, Ghana, Austria and Switzerland. He participated in the Pitzer in China study abroad program where he lived with his host family at the PKU Medical School campus.

While at Pitzer, Herceg participated in intramural soccer, LA FREEWAVES, and served as an Intercollegiate Media Studies Liaison. He also worked in the Office of Public Relations at Pitzer as a video producer/editor.

Thomas J. Watson Fellowship
The Watson Fellowship provides a grant of $25,000 for promising young people to spend the year following graduation in independent study and travel improve their resourcefulness, imagination and leadership to live in the world community.
